Tri-Valley tops Boardman by 4


BERLIN — In a game of state-ranked teams, Boardman fell to unbeaten Tri-Valley, 55-51, at the Classic in the Country Challenge on Monday.

Monica Touvelle led the Spartans (8-2) with 22 points on 8 of 12 shooting, including 3 of 5 on 3-pointers. Darryce Moore added 17 points and 11 rebounds for Boardman, which was ranked No. 17 in last week’s Associated Press poll, and Doriyon Glass scored 10 points.

Tri-Valley (14-0), ranked No. 4, was led by Carly Young with 23 points. Hannah Luburgh added 14 points.

Ursuline 69, Bedford Chanel 25

BEDFORD — Freshman Sydney Beasley scored a season-high 10 points to propel a balanced attack by the Irish (6-5).

Twelve players scored for the Irish who led 21-2 after eight minutes and who were in front 39-9 by the break.

Dominique Jenkins scored all eight of her points in the first quarter and she rebounded seven times while Aurielle Irizarry collected six points and six assists for Ursuline which had more goals, 28-9.

Anna Pagano and Lauren Tucker each had nine points for Chanel (1-8).

Mooney 56, Yo. Christian 24

YOUNGSTOWN — Elena Andino-Esparra scored eight of her 10 points in the first quarter when the Cardinals (6-7) bounced out to an 18-8 lead.

It was 37-10 at intermission.

Thirteen players scored for the Cardinals.

Kristi Cooper had 12 points and eight rebounds for the Eagles (5-7).

Chaney 47, Heartland Christian 44

COLUMBIANA — Laurie McRae scored 12 points as nine players got into the scoring act for Chaney (3-9).

Chaney led 39-31 after three quarters.

Ashley Weikart made eight baskets for 16 points and Erin Letarte had 12 points for Heartland Christian (3-11).
