Philly man held in juvey escape plan in W. Pa.

LINESVILLE, Pa. (AP) — An 18-year-old Philadelphia man has been jailed on charges he tried to help two juvenile girls escape from court-ordered custody.

State police say Angel Diaz drove from Philadelphia to Woodcock Township, Crawford County, early Monday. That’s where police say he picked up two girls from the Bethesda Children’s Home about 2 a.m.

Police say they stopped Diaz’s car about two miles away, and took Diaz and the girls into custody. It was not immediately clear why a judge had ordered the girls to stay at the home.

Police say Diaz tried to hit a counselor with his car during the escape attempt.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for Diaz who is charged with corruption of minors, simple assault, reckless endangerment and escape.
