Spinning with a purpose

YOUNGSTOWN —The Warriors Inc. Community Bike Club is offering “Spinning with a Purpose.” The program, sponsored by Youngstown’s Northside Weed and Seed, is intended to educate youths physically, mentally and socially while developing leadership skills and character.

Seating is available for the first 20 ninth- through 12th-graders to register. Classes will be after school every Friday, starting Jan. 29, at the Youngstown Central YMCA downtown on North Champion Street. Transportation can be provided. Awareness campaign

WARREN — The Warren school district is conducting an awareness campaign to locate children with disabilities.

The district asks parents, relatives, public and private agencies and concerned citizens to identify any child from birth to age 21 with a disability who is not being served.

The school district asks that you call the special-education office at (330) 841-2236, ext. 263. The district will contact the parents of the child to determine if the child needs to be evaluated.

Funds for families

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded $59,518 to the Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority and $48,620 to the Trumbull Metropolitan Housing Authority to further their efforts in the family self- sufficiency program.

Under the program, local public-housing authorities link residents with public-service agencies, schools, businesses and other local partners, providing participants with the skills and experience to obtain gainful employment.

Food program

NEW SPRINGFIELD — New Springfield Church of God, 3649 E. Garfield Road, is announcing that it is participating in Great Food For All, a nondenominational service that provides a monthly food distribution. This service is based in Ohio and is providing higher-quality national and regional brand foods through the volunteer efforts of the distribution sites.

The food is not “distressed” or outdated. The menu changes each month in order to provide a variety of foods. This service has no income guidelines and requires no applications. You must come to the site to place a prepaid order for the food. Payment must be made in the form of cash only at this time. Committee vacancies

NEW MIDDLETOWN — The village is looking for people interested in filling spots on zoning committees. There are two vacancies on the Planning and Zoning Committee and two on the Site Design Committee.

Trip to casino

YOUNGSTOWN — The Relay for Life Team of the American Business Women’s Association, Mill Creek Chapter, will sponsor a trip to the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh on Jan. 30. The cost is $25, which includes $20 in play and $5 in food. The tour bus will leave from Sutton’s parking lot on Southern Boulevard at 9:15 a.m. and return that evening.
