Woman hurt in car crash

LIBERTY — Ann Marie Hamrick, 30, of Girard was injured at 5:30 p.m. Sunday when her car left Shannon Road and struck a house, the state highway patrol said.

She was being treated Sunday night at St. Elizabeth Health Center. Also in the car were two children, ages 8 and 5, who were not hurt.

The patrol said the car left the road and struck a guard rail. It then came back across the road and hit a house on the other side. The house sustained moderate damage.

The patrol said alcohol is believed to be a factor and charges are pending.

Cook-off raises $5,000

HUBBARD — A chili cook-off raised $5,000 Saturday for the legal expenses of a group fighting creation of a landfill on Drummond Avenue.

Several hundred people attended the event at St. Patrick Church to assist Hubbard Environmental and Land Preservation.

Sue Squibbs was chosen the person with the best chili recipe.

Jackson Twp. dinner

NORTH JACKSON — Jackson Township Citizens’ Association and North Jackson Businessman’s Association will sponsor an annual Jackson Township community dinner next Monday at Dino’s Banquet Center, 10941 Mahoning Ave.

The guest speaker will be Mahoning County Juvenile Court Judge Theresa Dellick.

Cost is $16, and reservations are to be made by Tuesday with Joan Oblinger at Associated School Employees Credit Union, 10827 Mahoning Ave.

Committee openings

NEW MIDDLETOWN — The village is looking for people interested in filling spots on zoning committees.

There are two vacancies on the planning and zoning committee and two on the site- design committee.

Anyone interested in either of the committees should send a letter of interest to Mayor Harry Kale at P.O. Box 463, New Middletown, OH 44442.

Female veterans needed

WARREN — The YWCA Warren T.E.A.M. Mentoring program is looking for female Trumbull County veterans to wear camouflage or dress uniforms and to speak to small groups of fourth-grade students about their military experiences.

The talks will be part of a Valentine Tribute to Female Veterans program to take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 6 at the YWCA, 375 N. Park Ave.

Also included in the event will be re-enactments and a presentation by the National Freedom Center.

Food-bank pasta dinner

LIBERTY — Second Harvest Food Bank will sponsor a Have a Heart pasta dinner with serving from noon until 4 p.m. Feb. 14 at Temple El Emeth, 3070 Logan Way.

The cost for the eat-in or carry-out meals will be $7 for adults, $5 for children and free for those under age 5.

There also will be a gift- basket raffle.

Proceeds will benefit Second Harvest.
