Pianist from Warren to play at MLK event

Dana Kristina-Joi Morgan, a pianist and native of Warren, will perform during Monday’s commemorative service for Martin Luther King Jr. at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta.

The annual service, sponsored by the King Center in Atlanta, is the focal point of nationwide observances of MLK Day.

The service will air nationally throughout the year on C-SPAN.

Morgan met Rev. Bernice King, daughter of the late civil- rights leader, while performing during a musical competition in Atlanta last summer.

In December, Rev. King invited Morgan to perform a song at the King service.

Morgan is the entertainment co-coordinator at Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Washington, D.C. She has a masters degree in music from Howard University.
