We asked readers in Boardman, Austintown, Canfield and Poland how road plowing went for them last week. Here were some of the comments left on the Neighbors web pages:

From TD in Atown:

Well let’s see, it stunk!!! I can’t believe i pay so much in taxes and the roads stink so bad. Route 46 was great!! EVERY OTHER ROAD IN AUSTINTOWN STUNK. You would think at least Mahoning Avenue would be cleared, but even that road stunk.

From Peg in Boardman:

I believe the snow removal teams do an excellent job. Timing is a concern and I believe those who complain don’t take that into consideration. The crews cannot salt or plow constantly. It is too expensive and “overkill.” We must learn to drive carefully or stay home.

From Boardman’s SP:

Plowing in Boardman has been great. For the large amount of snow in a short period of time, and the economy being what it is, I have no complaints.

From AtownParent:

The roads in Atown were (bad) and some still are snow-covered. Canfield’s roads are very well maintained.

FROM RAMIT:

The roads in Austintown are horrible. I live in the neighborhood around Darbyshire and Kirk and they just laid salt today. They ran a plow over a week ago, but dropped no salt. Totally ridiculous. My dad lives across Kirk on springmeadow and it’s just as bad.

From Ytownboy:

How about Youngstown? No interest there, huh? The state of the roads in many Ytown neighborhoods are appalling!

NEW POLL QUESTION

Canfield and Poland lost two beloved locally owned pharmacies to closure. Lots of people lament the loss of locally owned stores. We want to know what is most important to you about locally owned stores. After you take the poll, please log in and leave a comment. -- More of the profits stay in my town. -- I think they offer more personal service. -- It’s quicker: I’m in, I buy, I’m out.

-- I know the owner. -- Small doesn’t work for me as well as box stores. -- Small doesn’t work for me as well as the internet.
