Valentine’s Day — Neighbors style

Hey guys, you might not want to read this, but Valentine’s Day is coming.

Whether you think it is just a holiday created by women or the greeting card industry, you’re still on the clock for getting that special lady a gift. Will it be roses or chocolate this year?

As a good Neighbor, we’ll help you out.

Ladies, too.

Here’s what you can do this year to make that significant other feel loved and publicly declare your affection:

Send us your memories — in words and pictures — of your “best date ever.”

Maybe it was a night of dancing and dining. It could have been a trip to a concert or play or even a goofy night out for miniature golf and pizza.

Whatever it was, share it with us.

We’ll take your memories and use them in print, so others can share in your fun. And wait until your sweetie finds out how you publicly told everyone how much they mean to you - that’s better than dying flowers any day.

Keep your memories concise and send photos in the highest resolution possible. You can send everything our way via e-mail at neighbors@vindy.com. We’re in a business filled with deadlines, so we’ll give you one as well. Send your materials by Monday, Feb. 1, so we’ll have time to put everything together.

In addition to your “best date ever” memories, we’re looking to feature a special couple in Canfield. It might be that cute older couple that’s been together for 50 years and still hold hands when they are out and about. Or, a couple that has overcome obstacles such as military deployment or job relocation to stay together.

If you know of any special couples, drop us an e-mail with their names and a line about what makes them special. Get those names to us ASAP, so we can track them down and hear their story.

You’ve already responded to this type of reader participation, so we have no doubts you’ll step up again on this project. Neighbors looks forward to sharing your stories. And you’ll score big points at home on Valentine’s Day when you do something other than give your sweetie another bouquet of flowers that will die in a week.
