POLAND — For 24 years, Poland Rotary Club has chosen winter months for two chili fundraising events.

This year the first event will be the Chili Open Dinner and Auction Jan. 29 at the Georgetown, 5945 South Ave., Boardman, where doors will open at 6 p.m. The dinner, which will begin with appetizers, will be presented in a novel way at food stations throughout the room.

During a silent auction guests will have an opportunity to bid on items valued at more than $75. There will be a raffle auction and music during the dinner and for dancing later in the evening.

The cost for the event is $50 and includes admission, dinner, unlimited soft drinks, wine and beer. A cash bar will also be available.

The second fundraiser will be the Chili Open Golf Classic on Feb. 27 at Bedford Trails Golf Course, 713 Bedford Road, in Coitsville,

The menu for the day will feature chili, sausage with peppers and onions, beer, soda, snacks and other refreshments. There will be music for listening or dancing, door prizes, hole-in-one prizes, a 50-50 raffle and a putting contest. Kelly Pavlik will make an appearance at the event.

Sponsorships are available, and articles for the auctions will be appreciated.

Proceeds from the chili events will support local charities. To date the Rotary Club of Poland has donated more than $1,000,000 to community charities.
