Consign and Design, located on Boardman-Canfield Road, is a seven-month-old consignment store offering a creative way to redecorate.
Co-owners Diane Young and Stacey Duber provide quality home accessories at affordable prices. Their store carries merchandise ranging from dining room sets and sofas to paintings and antiques.
“We get beautiful rugs, lamps, anything for the home. Linens, dishes and of course, furniture,” said Duber.
According to Duber, prices can range anywhere from a few dollars to $1,400 depending on the item. One thing that she does assure is that items in her store sell anywhere from 50 to 70 percent off of what it would have cost to purchase brand new.
Poland resident Pam Fabian thinks the Consign and Design is a great store considering the current decline in the economy.
“With the economy, it’s even better. You can freshen up things and not feel so bad for buying it,” Fabian said.
Anyone wanting to consign should contact the store prior to bringing in merchandise. A delivery service is available for those who purchase furniture or for those wanting to drop off merchandise.
New items are put out each week so customers will always see a new item on their visit.
The store consists of one large main room and two smaller rooms in the back of the store. Due to the size of the store, many items are placed in a storage unit until space is allotted. This allows the flexibility to incorporate new merchandise available for purchase each week.
The store name Consign and Design has significant meaning to it. “Consign” is used because clients can consign merchandise. “Design” is for the customer option of hiring interior designers.
Duber and Young have a background in interior decorating and love to aid customers in giving their homes a fresh look. Young says that customers they have helped have been very satisfied with the results.
“We both have a decorating background, business background (and) retail background,” Young says, “The customers that we have worked with to redecorate have just been delighted with the results.”
Young and Duber would like to eventually implement a separate room displaying wallpaper and tile samples to enlighten customers on the fact that they don’t just consign, they also design.
