Fitch JV bowlers 1-4; varsity at 5-2

Don Morrison, currently in his ninth season with the Falcons’ girls jayvee bowling program, is hoping to improve his team’s 1-4 start overall (and in the league) with the start of the new year.

“No one team member can stand alone. This is a total team effort,” Morrison said.

Known for his work on the girl’s fundamentals and mechanics, Morrison helps prepare the team members for coach Dino Balkan’s varsity program.

Three sophomores: up-and-coming Andrea Campbell (160.0 avg.), Tiffany Lindberg (140.0 avg.) and Jenna Davis (120.0 avg.) are all second-year players while four first-year players: juniors Kim Bennett and Mallory Nims, and sophomores Molly Custer and Miranda Deley and keglers to watch.

“We have a strong nucleus, but all must depend on each other in order to ensure the success of the team,” Morrison added.

The varsity, under Balkan’s direction, is 5-2 overall after their first seven matches, going 3-1 with wins over Canton McKinley, Massillon Jackson and Massillon Perry in league play.

Senior Gina Cheff is a four-year letterwinner for the Falcons with six juniors: including three-year letterwinners Vickie Berquist and Marietta Gallo; two-year letterwinners DeLorean Jones and Daria Harris and one letter recipients Kristen Dota and Victoria Phelps the keys as to how successful Fitch will be this season.
