Brian and Betsy Spin will have another month to reach a plea agreement in their child-endangering and animal-cruelty case.

The couple and their attorney met with Prosecutor Nick Modarelli on Wednesday at Mahoning County Area Court in Canfield to discuss terms for a possible plea agreement. The scheduled pretrial hearing was reset to Feb. 17.

Brian Spin, 38, and Betsy Spin, 32, were charged Oct. 22 by Canfield police after they were found living in deplorable conditions inside the home at 535 Brookpark Drive. The Mahoning County Dog Warden removed at least a dozen emaciated animals — 10 dogs and two cats — from the home. None of the animals survived. The couple’s two children, ages 7 and 2, also were removed from the home.

Canfield Detective Brian McGivern said the children were placed in protective custody for several weeks and now are living with Brian Spin’s parents.
