East High student expelled for bringing gun to school
YOUNGSTOWN — An East High School student has been expelled for bringing a gun into the school.
Superintendent Wendy Webb said the student, a sophomore boy, brought an unloaded handgun in a bag into the building about three weeks ago. The student made no threats against anyone and the weapon was found in the bag by a school administrator, she said.
Some ammunition was found in the school, but not with the gun, and it wasn’t the correct ammunition for the weapon, she said.
The district has a zero-tolerance policy on weapons and the student was expelled, Webb said.
