Ohio GOP gubernatorial candidate 'tweets' name of his running mate

COLUMBUS (AP) — The Republican candidate for Ohio governor has sent a tweet confirming the worst-kept secret of his campaign, the name of his running mate.

John Kasich used the popular social media tool to announce that state Auditor Mary Taylor, Ohio’s lone GOP statewide officeholder, will run with him in November.

Kasich used all but eight of the 140 characters allotted by Twitter to say that he and Taylor pledged to bring prosperity and jobs back to the state.

The news that Taylor would be Kasich’s running mate was widely reported earlier this week.

Kasich, a former congressman, has made a 10-year phase-out of the income tax central to his campaign platform.
