What if Malcolm, MLK met?
ALLIANCE — The Grimes Theatre Group will perform “The Meeting” at 7 tonight in the Mount Union College Theater. The play is based on a fictional meeting between Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr.
Playwright Jeff Stetson portrays what a clandestine meeting would have been like between these two influential figures. The fictional meeting takes place in a suite in a Harlem hotel in February 1965.
Differing in their views but alike in their mutual respect, the two men discuss their approaches to the same social problems. However, within a week, Malcolm will be assassinated, and in three short years, Dr. King will be martyred while crusading for freedom. This production is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Richard Jackson, assistant dean of students and director of multicultural student affairs at jacksonrg@muc.edu or (330) 823-2138.
