Car crashes into 2 semis on I-80 tonight
AUSTINTOWN — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a Thursday evening accident on Interstate 80 that sent one man to the hospital.
The man was driving east on I-80 when he sideswiped a tractor-trailer moving in the same direction, Trooper Anthony Derenzis said.
He then traveled across the grassy median into oncoming traffic on westbound I-80, where his 1998 Chevrolet Monte Carlo slid under a tractor-trailer that crushed the engine compartment of the vehicle, Derenzis said.
Neither truck sustained much damage, Derenzis said.
The man was transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, where he was listed in stable condition. Neither truck driver was injured, Derenzis said.
The accident remains under investigation.
