Wolford’s coaching staff coming together

YOUNGSTOWN — A month into the job, YSU football coach Eric Wolford is putting the finishing touches on his first coaching staff.

Shane Montgomery, who was the offensive coordinator at Akron last season, will fill the same role for the Penguins, according to a source familiar with the situation.

Montgomery previously served as the head coach at Miami (Ohio) for four seasons.

Rick Kravitz will serve as defensive coordinator. Kravitz, who coached at South Florida with Wolford, most recently coached safeties at Western Michigan.

Other hirings include:

- Louie Matsakis, running backs.

- Andre Coleman, wide receivers.

- Tom Sims, defensive line.

- Ron Stoops Jr., defensive assistant/director of high school relations.

- Frank Buffano, secondary.

Only Stoops has been confirmed by the school. A YSU spokesman said Wolford is hoping to release the official list soon.
