Ohio students sue over 'green' tech class
OREGON, Ohio (AP) — Some students think a course they took on energy-saving technology was in some ways a waste, and they’re suing an Ohio school district.
The class to provide training in solar panel installation and wind technology was offered at the Oregon Career and Technology Center outside Toledo. Students who were disappointed say teachers did not receive very basic instructional materials until early this month, weeks after the scheduled end of the course.
Half the 24 students in the class have filed a lawsuit in Lucas County Common Pleas Court accusing the Oregon district of breach of contract, negligence and fraud.
Schools Superintendent Mike Zalar says the class is new and that the district has tried to address the students’ complaints.
