Agency steps forward to help elderly Youngstown woman
YOUNGSTOWN — An elderly emaciated woman found alone in a home with no food and no money to buy food will be getting help from a social services agency that strives to help the elderly.
Irene Eich, 83, of Richview Avenue, is recovering in St. Elizabeth Health Center, but when she returns home, representatives from the Area Agency on Aging 11 are determined to make her life a little more comfortable than it was a week ago.
Police responded to an alarm Monday morning in the area of Eich’s West Side home when she came to a window asking for help. Police said the house was in an “extreme state of clutter” with newspaper and clothes everywhere.
