Help sought for elderly woman living alone in West Side home
YOUNGSTOWN — Police are contacting social service agencies in an attempt to find help for an emaciated 83-year-old woman found alone in a cluttered home with no food.
Police responded to an alarm Monday morning in the area of the woman’s Richview Avenue home on the West Side when she came to a window asking for help. Police said the house was in an “extreme state of clutter” with newspaper and clothes everywhere.
Police noted the woman was extremely thin, and she asked officers to take her to a McDonald’s restaurant and buy her a hamburger and coffee. The woman told police she has no money and had not eaten in four days. Officers found no food in the home.
The woman was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for observation, and police are seeking agencies that can help her.
