Autopsies show smoke killed men in Ohio barn fire
LEBANON, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio coroner's office says autopsies show that smoke inhalation killed two men who died in a raceway barn fire that also killed 45 horses.
The Warren County coroner's office in southwest Ohio has not officially released the names of the two men killed in the Dec. 5 fire at the Lebanon Raceway. Family members, horse owners and fellow workers identified them last month as longtime grooms Ronnie Williams and James Edwards.
A memorial service took place at the racetrack Dec. 11 to remember the two men and the horses.
The men are believed to have been sleeping when the fire ripped through the barn.
The accident remains under investigation by the state fire marshal's office, but criminal intent has been ruled out.
