Salem leaving AAC for NBC
SALEM — Salem athletics will move to the Northeastern Buckeye Conference at the start of the 2011-2012 school year.
The Quakers currently compete in the White Tier of the Northeastern Buckeye Conference in boys sports and the Red Tier in girls sports. Superintendent Tom Bratten told the school board Monday that he had talked to many people in the NBC and believed that was best option for the school and the athletes.
Bratten said that if the district had joined other conferences, some games would have been played close to Cleveland, which would require long bus trips that would get student athletes back to town late at night.
