Census Bureau needs workers for Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohioans: Uncle Sam wants you ... to participate in the 2010 Census.

When states take the official 10-year count of their residents this April 15, there will be much at stake. That includes the amount of federal aid that will come to Ohio as well as the number of votes the state has in Congress. If its official population loss lines up with projections, Ohio stands to be the only state to lose more than one seat in Congress when districts are redrawn following the count.

A rally at the Statehouse today is one of many ways the state is trying to maximize Census participation. The census committee, Complete Count Ohio, is also planning educational and outreach activities and has set up a web site at www.census.ohio.gov.
