Jake Giuriceo vs. Henri White
Vindicator staff report
Struthers boxer Jake Giuriceo could soon be making his first television appearance.
Giuriceo (5-0-1, 2 KOs) will meet Elkhart, Ind., native Sam Gibson (2-4-2, 2 KOs) in a six-round junior welterweight bout on Feb. 19 at the Wolstein Center at Cleveland State University.
Giuriceo’s bout is a swing bout on ESPN2’s “Friday Night Fights,” meaning it will be televised if other bouts on the card come up short.
Giuriceo, a Campbell High graduate who trains at the Burnside Boxing Club in Struthers, fought to a majority draw in his last bout, a six-rounder against Cleveland’s Henry White Jr. on the undercard of Kelly Pavlik’s bout last month at Beeghly Center.
Campbell’s Chris Hazimihalis (1-0, 1 KO), who made his pro debut at Beeghly, will also fight at CSU. He is scheduled to fight Steven Cox (1-0, 1 KO) of Independence, Mo., in a four-round lightweight bout.
Tickets go on sale Monday at 10 a.m. and start at $25. Tickets can be purchased at the Wolstein Center’s box office, through any Ticketmaster outlet, or the Ticketmaster charge-by-phone. For more information, call (216) 687-9292.
