Boardman High had a productive holiday break, as did Hubbard.
Boardman’s girls bowling team won the Midway Lanes tournament in Akron with a final score of 3982.
The tournament consisted of a qualifying round of three regular games and five Baker games.
The top four boys and girls teams advanced to bowl 10 more Bakers.
The girls were led by Tiffany Dugan (224-618), Ciarra Moran (223-609), Tiffany Terlecki (216-604) and Angela Kaczowka (211).
The Spartans also were successful during the Camelot Lanes holiday tournament.
The boys defeated Crestwood, 2-0, in a best of three Baker series to win.
Jim Tancabel had a 612 series, followed by Robbie Childs and Troy Wilson with 599 apiece.
Boardman’s girls team also won, beating Canfield, 2-1, in a best-of-three Baker series.
Tiffany Terlecki rolled 643 and Amanda Van Fossan 617.
Hubbard High’s Corey Flick bowled a 299 during the qualifying round as the Eagles won the Edward Zitnik Memorial Tournament on Dec. 30 at Bell Wick Bowl.
Last year in the tournament, Flick had 300.
Other top single games were registered by LaBrae’s John Richards (278 and 247) and Hubbard’s Tim Cleary (277).
In the final round, Hubbard’s 1995 pinfall beat out Chaney’s 1932 and Lowellville No. 1’s 1909.
Hubbard’s girls team won with 1905, while Niles was runner-up with 1779. Lowellville’s No. 1 squad was third with 1435.

Theresa Cowher’s 266-666 was, by far, the top performance in Holiday Ladies on Dec. 22.
Virginia Buzzelli, Gail McCombs, Dot Wilson and Rosie Cervone led the Chargers to the Try Hards’ first-half championship at Wedgewood, while Cruzes of Ruth Mechling, Mary Sue Laszacs, Valerie Putko and Dodi Baritell finished second.
The Chargers had a 39-25 record while Cruzes were 38-26.
Team No. 5 finished the Twilighters’ first half with a 42.5-25.5 record, while Team No. 1 was second with 39.5-28.5 at Wedgewood.
