Pictured is a sample of five cards with the Relay for Life logo on the back of all the notecards the group made. The Juniors continue to color and sell all occasion notecards as their 2010 service project to benefit the Relay For Life. They have participated in the Boardman Relay for Life and have committed a team of Burke Irish Dancers for 2010. Five cards are packaged for a donation of $5.

Juniors learned about the Advent wreath with a center candle, a custom popular in Ireland. Those pictured include from left Mary Kate Kelty, Morgan Donnelly, Braiden Forsythe, Ashley Thompson, Bre Thompson, Lauren Kepley, Rachel Kepley, back row: Breanne Donoghue, Kerra Loomis, Heather Foust and Erin Loomis.

The Junior Division of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernian’s (LAOH), Golden Rose Queen Of Ireland undertook two service projects in 2009. The Juniors focused on the “Keep Christ in Christmas” theme and sent Christmas cards and treat packages to U.S. military personnel.

The current Junior LAOH all occasion note card service project will continue in 2010. Members are hopeful that the community will support their effort to sell packages of note cards. The girls hand color three or more of the five note cards in each package they sell for a $5 donation to Relay for Life.

The group has committed to raise funds for the Mahoning County, Boardman, Ohio Cancer Society’s “Relay For Life.” They raised over $3,000 for Relay For Life and hope to surpass that amount this year.

Each package contains an Irish Christmas Blessings card, a St. Patrick’s card and cards with Irish dance shoes, an angel and a shamrock.
