Goodwill, Dell partner for computer disposal program
Goodwill Industries now offer a responsible and eco-friendly way to dispose of unused computers and accessories.
In collaboration with Dell, Residents can drop off unwanted or unused computers and accessories at participating Goodwill locations, including the Boardman location on U.S. 224.
The program is free of charge, but residents are responsible for removing any confidential information from the hard drives prior to the donation.
The Reconnect Computer Recycling Program is a five-year-old program that has provided approximately 250 green jobs while keeping over 96 million pounds of e-waste away from landfills, according to a news release.
Many computers contain materials that may be harmful to the environment. By donation, these materials can either refurbished, resold or broken down into parts that can be reused. Upon donation, a receipt for income tax purposes can be obtained.
Participating Goodwill Centers include Boardman, Hermitage, Calcutta, Liberty, Salem, Warren and New Castle.
Nationwide, over 1,900 Goodwill stores participate in the Reconnect Computer Recycling Program, according to a news release. This is a great opportunity to participate in an effort of go green and recycle unwanted computers instead of placing them in landfills.
