Dec. 22
Breaking and entering: A hammer was used to smash a front window at Ianazone’s Pizza, 7271 West Blvd. A cash-register drawer was found on a counter, though it appeared all of the money was intact.
Drugs: A traffic stop near South Avenue resulted in charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana against 30-year-old Randy L. Shardy, 6008 Lakeview Drive, Hubbard, after officers said they found suspected marijuana seeds in the car, as well as pieces of suspected marijuana, a bag containing a small quantity of the drug and a suspected marijuana pipe.
Dec. 25
Arrest: Police got a report of someone hiding in a closet at a West Boulevard apartment complex, where they charged 26-year-old Nicholas Crespo, 2013 Bancroft St., Poland, with criminal damaging, criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct while intoxicated. A resident found Crespo, who told police he didn’t know where he was or how he got there, a report said.
Theft: A 19-inch high-definition TV was removed from an apartment in the 1900 block of Wolosyn Circle.
Dec. 26
Weapon: Officers responded to several altercations at the Southern Park Mall and charged a Youngstown boy, 16, with carrying a concealed weapon, criminal trespassing and resisting arrest after saying they found an unloaded revolver in the parking lot. The boy ran from police and was issued a trespassing warning after being apprehended, a report showed.
Theft: Eight teenagers left Buffalo Wild Wings in the Southern Park Mall and failed to pay their $48.66 food bill.
Theft: Two Youngstown girls, 16 and 17, were charged with theft and trafficking in drugs, respectively, after a $60 women’s shirt had been stolen from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall. A search of the older girl’s purse revealed five bags of suspected marijuana packaged for sale, police said.
Menacing: An Applewood Boulevard man said he received threatening text messages.
Burglary: To a second-floor apartment in the 5500 block of South Avenue by a side door. Stolen were a 42-inch flat-screen TV, a Sony PlayStation 3 game system and two laptop computers, for a $4,100 loss.
Theft: Police charged a 17-year-old Lowellville girl with stealing $30 worth of merchandise from Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive, before being released to the custody of a relative.
Theft: Police charged a 17-year-old Bluffton, S.C., girl with the theft of $108 of clothing from Macy’s.
Theft: Police charged Sheila S. Ramos, 27, of 1442 Victor Ave., Youngstown, and Robbie D. Gribben, 28, of 4329 Helena Ave., Youngstown, with stealing a total of $91.57 worth of merchandise from Wal-Mart.
Theft: More than $440 worth of clothing was stolen from Macy’s, resulting in charges against 24-year-old Ashleigh L. Karnes, 3913 Evergreen Road, New Bedford, Pa., and Danika N. Fischer, 20, of 3063 Wallace Drive, New Castle, Pa. Both also were given criminal-trespassing warnings.
Theft: A vehicle at the Southern Park Mall had its dealer license plate removed.
Burglary: Took place in the 100 block of Alburn Drive through a rear set of doors. A 39-inch flat-panel TV, a Wii game system, at least 10 Wii games and a laptop computer were taken.
Burglary: A semiautomatic firearm was stolen after a break-in at a residence in the 800 block of Mathews Road.
Theft: An undisclosed amount of money was taken from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.
Dec. 27
Drug abuse: Officers cited 23-year-old Tierra L. McIntosh, of Milwaukee, Wis., in the 5200 block of Southern Boulevard after saying she had a small quantity of suspected marijuana.
Burglary: A revolver, a jewelry box and a bracelet were missing from a home in the 3900 block of Stratmore Avenue after someone had kicked in a rear door.
Theft: Two females stole $845 worth of clothing from a Southern Park Mall store.
Theft: A Youngstown man’s $300 cell phone was stolen in the 400 block of Boardman-Poland Road.
Identity fraud: A Midlothian Boulevard man discovered $701 had been withdrawn from his checking account to make unauthorized transactions.
Theft: A Mathews Road man reported the theft of a gold engagement ring thought to be about $2,000.
Criminal mischief: Eggs were tossed at a car in the 8100 block of Stadler Avenue.
Criminal damaging: A truck’s rear taillights were broken in the 8600 block of Glenwood Avenue.
Theft: Two 15-year-old Youngstown girls were charged in the theft of $130 of clothing from Macy’s.
Dec. 28
Theft: Someone entered a car in the 700 block of Brookfield Avenue and stole a $200 faceplate.
Theft: A former employee was accused of, but not charged with, the theft of $171 worth of clothing from the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall.
Misuse of a credit card: A Pierce Drive man found out his card had been used without authorization to buy $418 worth of services or merchandise from a company in China.
Breaking and entering: Someone entered a garage at Angelilli Builders, 6001 Southern Blvd., though nothing seemed to be missing.
Theft: Police charged Lori L. Jackson, 34, of 1180 Harvard Dr., Warren, with stealing food from Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Aggravated menacing: A Terrace Drive woman told police of receiving threatening text messages about shooting her residence and those inside.
Arrest: A vehicle check led to the arrest of Albert L. Peake Jr., 25, of 520 Boardman-Canfield Road. Peake was wanted on a warrant charging him with failure to appear in court.
Assault: A boy at the Southern Park Mall reported someone in a vehicle shot him in the back with a BB pellet, though he was not hurt.
Theft: Police charged a 15-year-old New Middletown girl and 18-year-old Kimberly G. Snow, 10489 Main St., New Middletown, with stealing makeup from Wal-Mart.
Dec. 31
Attempted burglary: In the 4000 block of South Avenue, though no entry was made to the trailer.
Domestic violence: A charge was filed against Michael J. Stennett, 30, of 2042 Brandon Ave., Boardman, who was accused of threatening to kill a family member, her mother and her son during an argument.
Theft: A car was entered in the 4600 block of New England Boulevard. Two compact discs were removed.
Theft: Six makeup items were stolen from Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive, resulting in a charge against 20-year-old Jessica A. Chestnut, 1337 Corporation St., Beaver Falls, Pa.
Domestic violence: Officers took into custody 45-year-old James E. Panak, 7357 Sugartree Drive, Boardman, after his girlfriend reported that Panak, while intoxicated, shoved and threatened to kill her. She had a small bruise and scratch.
Arrest: Authorities investigated a suspicious person near a Doral Drive business and charged 36-year-old Michael C. Gordon, of 235 E. Boston Ave., Youngstown, with abuse of harmful intoxicants, a fifth-degree felony. A worker for another store told police he had inhaled a harmful substance while in a checkout line, a report said.
Robbery: A worker for Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road, reported that a man she tried to detain for stealing $200 worth of groceries threatened to hit her.
Jan. 1
Domestic violence: Police charged Mark J. Mileto, 39, of 54 Prestwick Drive, Boardman, with domestic violence. He is accused of head-butting a family member during an argument. The accuser suffered swelling above the right eye.
Drug paraphernalia: Police checked an area in the 7000 block of Market Street for stolen vehicles and charged James P. Tolson, 35, of Liberty Mills, Ind., with possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing official business. Tolson tried to hide evidence of a suspected crack pipe found in his car, a report said, though he had not been charged with stealing a vehicle.
Theft: Three men left Denny’s Restaurant, 154 Boardman-Canfield Road, without paying a $46.19 food bill.
Theft: A woman’s purse was stolen at a Market Street business.
Criminal mischief: A Moyer Avenue man saw that someone had climbed his fence and turned on his outdoor water faucet.
Jan. 2
Domestic violence: Police charged James L. Mitchell, 34, of 116 Sugarcane Drive, Boardman, with domestic violence after his wife reported that, during an argument, he squeezed her neck. She had no visible injuries, however, a report showed.
Theft: Susan Haney, 71, of 140 Bright Ave., Campbell, was charged and released on a summons after $161 worth of clothing was stolen from the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall.
Theft: A Poland woman’s purse was stolen from a shopping cart at a Southern Boulevard store.
Theft: Sergio R. Rivera, 25, of 3464 N. Wendover Circle, Youngstown, was charged in the theft of $180 worth of jewelry from the J.C. Penney store.
Theft: A city girl, 17, was charged with stealing $78 worth of women’s clothing from Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road, and released to the custody of her mother.
Theft: A 16-year-old Youngstown boy was accused in the theft of a $60 pair of athletic shoes from Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road.
Theft/misuse of a credit card: A Youngstown man reported the theft of a cell phone and two credit cards while at a Market Street business and that one of the cards was used to make a $450 unauthorized purchase.
Jan. 3
Theft: A man reported $400 missing from his home in the 5100 block of Glenwood Avenue.
Breaking and entering: Someone apparently used a trash container on wheels to break a double- pane window and enter Plaza Donuts, 712 Boardman-Canfield Road, though nothing appeared to be missing.
Theft: Police charged 24-year-old Francine L. DeFrank, 1293 Waverly Ave., Youngstown, with taking from Wal-Mart seven items valued at a total of $68.
Theft: Amberlene M. MacLarren, 19, of 1314 Campbell St., Youngstown, was charged with stealing an eyeliner from Wal-Mart, then released on a summons.
Felonious assault: Samuel R. Cuadrado, 25, of 317 10th St., Campbell, faced a charge after his former girlfriend alleged that he had followed her car from Midlothian and Southern boulevards, left his vehicle to strike hers with a metal pipe and intentionally hit her vehicle again with the accuser and other people in it. A witness said he rammed the car several times, a report showed.
Jan. 4
Menacing: A Warren man reported being threatened with bodily harm at a Boardman-Poland Road restaurant.
Counterfeit: A man presented a $3,300 business check at a South Avenue bank, though the check was later found to be phony.
Theft: A man’s wallet was missing from his Willow Drive apartment.
Theft: A hydraulic plow unit and an electric salt spreader were taken from a truck at a Market Street business, for a $3,700 loss.
Theft: A New Middletown woman reported her $2,000 computer stolen while she was in the township.
Theft/damage: A vehicle at a Market Street dealership had a window smashed before someone took a $120 global positioning system unit.
Breaking and entering: Someone pried open a rear door to a Windham Court business, then rummaged through several offices. Nevertheless, nothing seemed to be missing.
Identity fraud: A West Boulevard woman, after receiving a letter from the Internal Revenue Service indicating she owed $10,350 in back taxes, called a Jonesboro, Ga., business and learned that an employee evidently was using her personal information.
Theft: The owner of a Boardman-Canfield Road business told police that the previous owner had mail improperly changed to his address so as to have checks she should receive diverted to him. The woman estimated the checks to be between $8,000 and $10,000, a report showed.
Domestic violence: Police arrested a 12-year-old township boy at his residence and took him to the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center in Youngstown after police were told he had threatened to use a razor blade to kill family members and himself. The boy’s grandmother tried to slap his arm and he grabbed her wrist, causing a bruise, a report said.

Theft: A man’s $100 coat was stolen as he patronized a Boardman-Canfield Road store.
