Neighbors Spotlight: Kasey Scott
Austintown's Kasey Scott poses for a holiday photo with daughter Avery.
Age: 37
Family: I have the best daughter a mother can ask for. Avery, who is 7 years old is a very energetic, ambitious, curious and generous little girl.
My mom and dad, Earl and Kathleen King, moved to North Canton 15 years ago.
My brother, Kris King, and his family still live in Austintown.
Groups: I’m a member of the United Auto Workers local 1714.
This was Avery’s first year playing softball for Austintown Girls Softball League which her father and I both helped coach.
And, as some of my Facebook friends might tell you, I like to golf a little bit.
Education: Austintown Fitch High School, 1990; Youngstown State University, 1996
Q. What do you like best about living in your town?
A. I love all the special little places and eateries that you can’t find anywhere else. While some of them are beginning to franchise and spread to other towns, they just aren’t the same.
Q. What one thing would you add to your town if money was not an issue?
A. I think any place fun and educational for the children would be a great addition. A children’s museum, science center or Wannado City — somewhere parents can take their kids to have fun and learn.
Q. Describe the last community event you went to:
A. The Fourth of July parade. It was nice to see all of the local support systems, businesses, musicians and special interest groups come to celebrate a great American holiday. Vintage American cars, drummers drumming and bright red fire engines sounding their horns always give me goose bumps on the Fourth.
Q. If there was a store or business to add to your town, which would you like it to be:
A. Just one? How about a mini version of Legacy Village.
Q. If you could name a street after someone, who would it be:
A. Josh Cribbs Boulevard, named for the record-breaking wide receiver of the greatest football team around. Quit laughing all of you Steelers fans! Got Josh?
Q. Where is your favorite place in town to go for a little hideaway time or bite to eat:
A. Upstairs Lounge. Great food, great atmosphere and always good conversations with friends there.
Q. What one place would you direct an outsider to visit to experience your town:
A. Wedgewood Pizza, of course. I have out-of-town friends that make it their first and last stops when visiting home.
