Youngstown Thermal signs two-year pact to heat Oakhill Renaissance Place

YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Building Commission has approved a two-year contract to continue to receive steam heat from Youngstown Thermal for Oakhill Renaissance Place, but at significantly reduced rates.

The contract, approved Thursday, is retroactive to March 1, 2009, and it will expire Feb. 28, 2011.

The rate will be $17.50 per thousand pounds of steam for the first year and $18.25 in the second year.

As a county-owned office building, Oakhill uses about 28 million pounds of steam annually. Oakhill is the former Forum Health Southside Medical Center.
