Man reports attack
WARREN — A 37-year-old city man suffered injuries to his face and complained of losing feeling in his hands and feet from an attack on Olive Street Northeast about 3 a.m. Wednesday.
The man said he was kicked in the face, abdomen and back by about eight men at the corner of Olive and Scott streets.
According to a police report, a man who wished to remain unidentified told police he saw the victim being kicked by four men. The witness said he called police and scared off the attackers.
The victim was treated at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
Robbery in Warren
WARREN — A 27-year-old city man reported that he was robbed by three men as he walked home from work on Youngstown Road near Hazelwood Avenue Southeast just after midnight Wednesday.
The men got out of a blue Chevrolet Cavalier, one of them with a handgun, one with a knife and the third man with a mask, he said.
The robbers took the victim’s money and coat and fled north on Hazelwood in the car.
Flu vaccine in Niles

Chairwoman chosen
CANFIELD — Marie Cartwright will be the township trustee chairwoman for 2010. She was chosen by fellow trustees Tony Bettile and Martha Zarlenga during Monday’s reorganization session.
Cartwright said the board also set a meeting time of 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. The first regular meeting will be Tuesday at Canfield Township Hall, 21 S. Broad St.
The trustees also passed a resolution upholding a township parking ban established in 2009 that states no one is allowed to park on the street when it snows, she said.
She said the township also is looking to fill two volunteer positions — a resident representative for the Cardinal Joint Fire District and an alternate for the zoning appeals board — and a part-time position as a coordinator for the township’s Green Team recycling program.
Christmas tree pickup
WARREN — Howland Township will pick up Christmas trees curbside now through Jan. 15 and at the Public Works Department, 3600 North River Road, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. weekdays.
Angel Food Blessings
YOUNGSTOWN — Crossroads Church is taking orders for Angel Food Blessings in a Box. The Angel Food program is intended to reduce the amount members of the community pay for groceries each month.
A box of meat, vegetables, fruit and more, valued at $75, costs $30. There are no income restrictions.
Orders for food will be taken on these dates: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday and Monday and 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Cash, money orders and the Ohio Direction Card are accepted. Food will be distributed from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Jan. 23. Crossroads Church is located at 554 S. Meridian Road.

Rte. 11 lane restriction
CANFIELD — State Route 11 northbound over the Ohio Turnpike in Canfield Township is reduced to one lane through 1 p.m. today for bridge-deck patching by Ohio Department of Transportation workers.
