A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:
HUBBARD
Jan. 1
Theft: A Moore Street man reported his mother was cashing his checks without permission.
Auto theft: A worker with Hi Tech Auto, 917 N. Main St., reported a 1997 Cadillac El Dorado missing.
Jan. 2
Fraud: A Hubbard woman received a check drawn on insufficient funds.
Menacing: An employee with a doctor’s office in the 900 block of West Liberty Street told police a customer threatened her.
Jan. 3
Menacing: A Mackey Street woman said she got word that her stepbrother, possibly with a firearm, was part of a group coming to rob her.
Jan. 5
Menacing: A Youngstown-Hubbard Road man reported being harassed and threatened.
Criminal damaging: Six or seven locks were cut at storage buildings in the 700 block of North Main Street.
Robbery: A worker for a Youngstown-Hubbard Road business told police a man in a black hoodie demanded money, though the employee saw no weapon. The robber fled.
LIBERTY
Dec. 31
Auto theft: A vehicle registration check near Gypsy Lane led to the arrest of Whister Winford III, 30, of 550 E. Lucius Ave., Youngstown, on a charge of receiving stolen property when, police said, the 2006 Chevrolet Malibu had been reported stolen in Salem.
Identity fraud: A Sampson Drive woman checked her credit report and found a $565 charge originating in New York that she never made.
Jan. 1
Domestic violence: Authorities responded to a fight at a Tuttle Drive residence and charged Michael P. Diamantes, 46, of 42 Tuttle, with two counts of domestic violence and one of aggravated menacing. Diamantes’ wife reported he had struck her several times in the face when she refused to give him money; his teenage daughter told police she was punched in the face when she tried to break up the altercation, and an officer said Diamantes threatened him, a report said.
Theft: Eight beams stored at All American JCS Co., 1057 Trumbull Ave., were stolen.
Theft: A global positioning system device, $250 and a cell phone were removed from a vehicle in the 4000 block of Logan Gate Road.
Jan. 3
Theft: A Sharon, Pa., boy, 17, and an 18-year-old Farrell, Pa., man were detained after two thermal shirts, a pair of pajama bottoms and a hooded shirt were stolen from Wal-Mart, 200 Goldie Road. Neither had been charged at the time of the report, however.
Theft: Police booked 30-year-old Christopher Rainey, 4083 Madison St., Youngstown, on charges of theft and criminal trespassing after three Xbox games had been stolen from Wal-Mart. Rainey was in the store, despite having been recently advised by police not to return, a report said.
Jan. 4
Arrest: Girard police detained 18-year-old Charles D. Fearer, 597 Stull Ave., Girard, for Liberty authorities, who picked Fearer up on an outstanding warrant charging him with larceny.
Theft: A Youngstown man, 29, was accused in, but not charged with, the theft of three video games from Wal-Mart.
Theft by deception: A Tibbetts-Wick Road man told police that a woman claiming to represent a bank offering a debt-elimination program called after he had entered the program saying he needed to send $1,600.60 to someone in Jamaica to pay for fees. The man also discovered three unauthorized charges to his credit card totaling more than $1,000.
Recovered property: A 1990 Toyota was found after a Townsend Avenue woman reported her former husband had taken the car without permission.
Burglary: To a Louise Lane trailer by a side door. Stolen were a 27-inch TV, a $5,000 comic-book collection and a bicycle.
Arrest: Officers responded to someone trespassing on property on Tuttle Drive, where they charged 21-year-old Jarrod T. Grubb, of 3862 Main St., Mineral Ridge, with criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct. Grubb also struck or kicked a console in the cruiser, a report showed.
Jan. 5
Breaking and entering: A man caught on a surveillance camera wearing a vest or hoodie broke a drive-through window and entered Subway, 3134 Belmont Ave. A cash drawer was missing.
Breaking and entering: Six tires valued at a total of $500 were missing after someone broke into Firestone Complete Auto Care, 3336 Belmont Ave., through a rear garage window.
Identity theft: A Monticello Boulevard woman found two unauthorized electronic transfers totaling $510 had been made to her account.
GIRARD
Jan. 4
Possible breaking and entering: A man told officers someone might have entered his Robinwood Drive home, though he found no signs of forced entry or anything missing.
Burglary: A Robinwood Drive man returned to find his residence had been ransacked. Two containers with a total of about $20 were missing.
Criminal mischief: A student at Girard High School, 31 N. Ward Ave., reported several incidents of damage to her father’s vehicle, including when someone had used a key to damage the finish on its trunk lid.
Menacing: A West Liberty Street woman reported a man had threatened via phone to cause bodily harm.
Counterfeit: A fake $20 bill was presented at Family Dollar, 910 N. State St.
