No. 2 Texas 96, Arkansas 85

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Dexter Pittman had 21 points and 10 rebounds, and Texas remained unbeaten. The Longhorns (14-0) made nine of 11 shots during a 20-9 run in breaking from a 48-48 halftime tie. Arkansas (7-8) cut the margin to two in the final minutes but couldn’t pull even. Rotnei Clarke scored 24 points for the Razorbacks. Arkansas beat Texas 67-61 here last January, but the Razorbacks are only 9-23 since. The Longhorns were much more impressive offensively this time around, shooting 59 percent from the field. Arkansas trailed 86-84 after Michael Washington scored on an offensive rebound, but Damion James made an open shot from near the free throw line, and Jordan Hamilton’s dunk with just under a minute remaining made it a six-point game.

No. 4 Purdue 79, Minnesota 60

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Robbie Hummel and E’Twaun Moore both scored 18 points and Purdue remained unbeaten. JaJuan Johnson had 16 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks, and Chris Kramer added 15 points to help the Boilermakers (14-0, 2-0 Big Ten) tie the school record for best start. The 1993-94 team that featured Glenn Robinson also won its first 14 games. Paul Carter scored 15 points and Damian Johnson added 12 for Minnesota (11-4, 2-1), which had won seven straight. Center Ralph Sampson III sat out with an ankle injury.

No. 14 Mississippi 84, Central Florida 56

OXFORD, Miss. — Terrico White scored 21 points to lead Mississippi. Eniel Polynice had 16 points for the Rebels (12-2), while Chris Warren added 14 and Murphy Holloway had 11 points and 10 rebounds. Mississippi shot 30 of 59 from the field (51 percent), including 11 of 28 from 3-point range.

Georgia 73, No. 20 Georgia Tech 66

ATHENS, Ga. — Trey Thompkins scored 20 points, Ricky McPhee hit two key baskets near the end and Georgia pulled off its first big win for new coach Mark Fox. Georgia, a team that had lost at home to Wofford and was coming off a 28-point blowout at Missouri last weekend, defeated a team with one of the most touted freshman classes in the country. It was a loss sure to turn up the heat on Yellow Jackets coach Paul Hewitt, who looked up at the scoreboard in disbelief.

AUSTIN, Texas — Brittainey Raven had 17 points and six rebounds to lead Texas.

No. 16 Xavier 68, Missouri 60

COLUMBIA, Mo. — April Phillips scored 17 points and Xavier withstood a late run to snap Missouri’s seven-game winning streak.

No. 22 West Virginia 63, Pittsburgh 59

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Liz Repella scored all 16 of her points in the second half and West Virginia won its 12th straight.
