Mahoning, Trumbull get millions for clean energy efforts
Mahoning and Trumbull counties will share in $100 million in funding that was announced today for job training programs.
The money from the Department of Labor will be used to give workers new skills in clean energy industries.
Mahoning County is one of four Ohio counties that will be part of a $5 million program to train sheet metal workers in construction of energy-efficient buildings and manufacturing of components. Other states also are involved.
Trumbull County is part of a $4.8 million program that is specific to Ohio. The program is dedicated to 44 counties that have been impacted by the downturn in the auto industry. Workers will be trained for a variety of work in alternative energy industries.
Trumbull County also is $4 million program that is being set up in Ohio and other states. It will create a Green Manufacturing Skill Training Certification training program.
