AKRON — Delroy James scored 11 of his 19 points during a rallying run by Rhode Island. The Rams (12-1) trailed 48-39 with 14:35 left before outscoring the Zips 17-6 over the next 7:48. James then hit two layups, a jump shot, two free throws and a three pointer before capping the run on a layup with 6:47 remaining for a 56-54 advantage. It was the Rams’ first lead since being up 19-18 with 9:02 left in the first half. Chris McKnight put the Zips (10-4) back ahead 58-57 on a layup with 4:44 left, but James answered on a 3-pointer 37 seconds later and the Rams wouldn’t trail the rest of the way. Lamonte Ulmer scored 20 points for Rhode Island, which won its eighth straight and snapped a six-game win streak by the Zips. McKnight finished with 13 points and Nikola Cvetinovic added 12 for Akron.
Dayton 59, Ball State 35
DAYTON — Chris Wright scored 10 points and Dayton had its best defensive game of the season. The Flyers (11-3) held the Cardinals (6-6) to 27.9 percent shooting (12 of 43) from the field — the lowest percentage by an opponent this season. The Cardinals, who made only 1 of 10 3-point shots, had their worst shooting game of the season. While it was the fewest points the Flyers allowed this season, it was also one of their lowest scoring outputs in a game marked by long possessions and few second shots. Dayton shot 45.1 percent (23 of 51) from the field as it extended its homecourt winning streak to 28 games. Wright scored all 10 of his points in the final 5 minutes of the first half to put the Flyers in control. Dayton outscored the Cardinals 15-6 during the run and built a 30-17 halftime lead. Ball State was led by Terrence Watson’s eight points. Jarrod Jones entered the game averaging 15.1 points per game, but was held to just three points on 1-of-8 shooting.
Western Michigan 86, Michigan-Dearborn 45
KALAMAZOO, Mich. — All 13 players scored as Western Michigan cruised. David Kool’s 15 points led the Broncos (8-5), who won their fourth in a row. Reserves Flenard Whitfield added 14 and David Brown 13 as Western Michigan got 54 points from bench players. Donald Lawson pulled down 12 rebounds as Western Michigan piled up a 64-33 advantage.

Wisconsin-Milwaukee 83, SIU-Edwardsville 73
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. — Ricky Franklin scored 20 points to lead Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Ja’Rob McCallum had 19 points and Jason Averkamp 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Panthers (9-7), who held a 48-29 edge in rebounds in the game.
