FOOD SALES AND DINNERS


THURSDAY

• Canfield Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, will sell takeout stuffed chicken breast dinners from 4 p.m. until sold out. Meals include mashed potatoes, green beans and a brownie. The cost is $7. Just drive through and pick up a dinner. No reservations needed.

• Poland United Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman-Poland Road, Poland, will sell meals of baked stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and green beans from 4-6 p.m. (or until sold out). Cost of the dinner is $6. Take advantage of the drive-through service; pull up to the front of the church, and a dinner to go will be taken to your car. There’s no need to preorder or get out of the car.

FRIDAY

• Canfield Lions will sponsor a fish dinner from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St., Canfield. Meals include baked or fried haddock, coleslaw, roll, beverage and dessert, with a choice of one side, french fries, macaroni and cheese, haluski, green beans or pirogi. The cost is $10. Takeouts available.

• Holy Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at (330) 755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Orders may be picked up from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided.

• Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at (330) 792-1005.

• St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, will sell potato and cheese pirogi. To order, call (330) 799-0084 after 6 p.m. Thursday, or after 8 a.m. Friday. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. Cost is $5 per bag of one dozen (no containers necessary). Walk-ins are welcome. Patrons are asked to use the side entrance.

• St. John Orthodox Church, 301 Struthers-Liberty Road, Campbell, will sell haluski (cabbage, cottage cheese, or plain with onion) for $5 a quart from noon to 5 p.m.

• Potato, prune and kraut pirogi will be sold at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell. Cost is $4.50 a dozen. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at (330) 755-1316, and orders can be picked up beginning at noon. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers. No walk-in orders will be available.

• St. Luke Church, 5235 South Ave., Boardman, will bake Italian-style red and white pizza. Phone orders will be accepted at (330) 788-0025 between 9-11:30 a.m. only. Pickup will be until 12:30 p.m. Price is $6 for regular or Brier Hill pizza and $5 for white pizza.

• St. Paul the Apostle Church, Main Street, New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi. Orders can be called to (330) 542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.

SATURDAY

• Fowler United Methodist Church, 3426 Youngstown-Kingsville Road, will serve chicken-pie dinners from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Meals will include potatoes, green beans, applesauce, coleslaw, bread, dessert and beverage. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children 6 to 12 and free for preschoolers. For information contact (330) 627-5253.

• New Waterford United Methodist Church, 46925 S. State St., New Waterford, will serve breakfasts of pancakes, french toast, sausage, bacon, eggs, fruit, juice and coffee from 8 to 11 a.m. A donation will be accepted and proceeds will benefit the building fund.

• Ohltown United Methodist Church, 2001 Ohltown Road, Austintown, will sell homemade chili for $5 a quart from 11 a.m. until sold out. This is a drive-through service.

• A Swiss steak dinner will be served from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Vienna United Methodist Church, 4265 Warren-Sharon Road. The menu will include mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable, coleslaw, applesauce, bread and butter, homemade dessert and beverage. Takeout orders will be available. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children 5 to 12 and free for those 4 and under.

SUNDAY

• Canfield High School Swim and Dive Team will host a pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the high school cafeteria. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children 3 to 10. Tickets can be purchased from team members.

• Newton Falls VFW 3332 Auxiliary will serve breakfasts of pancakes, scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, sausage gravy and biscuits, bacon, toast, orange juice, milk, tea and coffee The cost is $6.50 for adults, $6 for seniors 60 and over, and $4 for children 4 to 12. • Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on Via Mount Carmel, Youngstown, will sponsor a spaghetti dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the church hall. Cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children. Carryouts will be available; containers are 50 cents or you can provide your own.

TAKING ORDERS

• New Hope United Methodist Church, 21 Fairview Ave, Niles, is taking orders for homemade doughnuts to be sold Saturday. Call the church at (330) 652-3409 to order before Friday. Choices are plain cake, powdered sugar and granulated sugar.

• New Hope United Methodist Church, 21 Fairview Ave., Niles, will have a roast beef dinner and salad bar from 4-6:30 p.m. Jan. 16. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. The public is invited.

• St. John Lutheran Church, 1429 Mahoning Ave., adjacent to Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park, will serve an old-fashioned, all-you-can-eat New Year’s buffet on Jan. 17 from 11:45 a.m. until the food runs out. In addition to freshly roasted pork, there will be potatoes, German sauerkraut, green beans, applesauce, salad, and an assortment of rolls, desserts and beverages. Cost is $9.95. • VFW Triangle Post 2799 Auxiliary, 3161 E. South Range Road, New Springfield, will serve spaghetti dinners with meatballs, salad, bread and coffee or tea from 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 14. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12. Carryouts are $6.25.
