There’s a health care plan that would work, given a try
EDITOR:
There has been much said about the costs of the so called health plan being contemplated by Congress, but their priorities are badly skewed.
As I have written before, it appears that it is A-OK to run up a massive deficit for military adventures such as the “off the books” deficit being run up by that very ill advised Iraq war. Yet it is a no-no to do anything to support the health and well being of the American people. The only conclusion I can draw from this is that we have degenerated into a country of barbarians.
What is at stake? Well, as an example, let’s take a person in New York state who has no company sponsored health insurance. He has a health plan sponsored by New York state, and he is paying out of pocket $240 per month for that insurance. I do not call this “sponging off the state’s taxpayers” by any stretch of the imagination. Yet the conservatives claim he is.
He has also been fighting a very crippling migraine that had him on total disability. He is now off disability and is working full time again, but those Relpax pills cost $25 each. But in overcoming that migraine, he has run up a massive debt, something that would not have happened in a country with a decent health plan. Are we civilized? No.
There is a way to keep costs under some sort of control, but it would require those congressional control freaks to give up any direct control. They would have to set up a government sponsored corporation with an outside board of directors and an outside board of medical advisors drawn from university medical schools. The premiums would be taken up front from the gross compensation of everybody, and the board of directors would have full control of that. After all, even though many, especially conservatives don’t want to believe so, we are our brothers’ keepers. Once again, may I direct attention to Matthew 25.31-44. This was not added to the Bible by liberals in recent years.

Would Obama pay for abortions with tax money?
EDITOR:
Would our president sign into law a health care reform bill that uses our tax dollars to pay for the ending of the life of an unborn child through abortion?
Within days of taking office our president revoked the Mexico City Policy. This policy did not allow our tax dollars to be used by any foreign organization that performed or promoted abortion. Since that decision was made, our tax dollars are being used in foreign countries to subsidize organizations that kill unborn children.
In early April, President Obama greeted the king of Saudi Arabia with a full bow. Later in April our president spoke at Georgetown University. Behind the podium is a gold “IHS” monogram, the first three letters in Greek of the name of the King of kings. During the speech the symbol for the name of Christ was covered by a piece of black plywood at the request of the White House.
The first Thursday of May is National Prayer Day. President Obama ended the President Bush practice of hosting a Prayer Day service at the White House.
In September President Obama hosted a dinner in the White House celebrating the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. He highlighted the contributions of U.S. Muslims. In his remarks our president stressed the values of Islam as being in common with our culture.
Considering the religious decisions and real world actions of our president, my best guess to my question is that our president would certainly sign into law a health care reform bill that uses our taxes to pay for abortion. It has been said before that the truth of a man is in his actions and not necessarily in his words.
