Black Monday in the NFL: Bills fire entire coaching staff, AP reports
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — A person familiar with the decision says the Buffalo Bills have fired interim coach Perry Fewell and the rest of his staff. Fewell will still interview for the vacant coaching job.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press on Monday because the team has not announced the dismissals.
The decisions came a day after the Bills beat the Indianapolis 30-7 to end their season at 6-10.
The Bills are in the midst of a major shakeup after missing the playoffs for a 10th straight season. Coach Dick Jauron was fired in November. Last week, national scout Buddy Nix was promoted to general manager.
FoxSports.com first reported the firings.
Earlier Monday, Jim Zorn was fired by the Washington Redskins, the first step in yet another team overhaul under owner Dan Snyder.
Zorn was informed of his dismissal shortly after the team returned to Redskins Park following Sunday's season-ending 23-20 loss at San Diego.
In Cleveland, new Browns team president Mike Holmgren is scheduled to take over today, and the former Green Bay and Seattle coach said last week that he intends to meet with head coach Eric Mangini soon after his arrival.
Holmgren said he would only need a "little while" to decide whether to bring back Mangini, whose Belichikian personality irritated some Cleveland fans and whose discipline - long practices, pop quizzes, fines - had some of the Browns in an uproar.
