No. 1 UConn 91, Seton Hall 24

NEWARK, N.J. — Tina Charles scored 19 points and Kalana Greene added 16 to help top-ranked Connecticut rout Seton Hall for the Huskies’ 51st straight victory in the Big East opener for both teams. Maya Moore had 14 points for the Huskies (12-0), who have won every game during their streak by at least 10 points. The 51 straight victories is third all-time in Division I women’s basketball history. UConn only trails its school-record 70 consecutive wins from 2001-03 and Louisiana Tech’s 54 in a row from 1980-82. The victory was the 800th in school history, making UConn the ninth school to achieve that milestone. It was also the Huskies’ 26th straight win against Seton Hall with the last loss coming on Jan. 5, 1994. Seton Hall (8-6) shot just 17 percent from the field and finished with 28 turnovers.

No. 2 Stanford 79, California 58

STANFORD, Calif. — Nnemkadi Ogwumike had 24 points and a career-high 16 rebounds to help Stanford open the Pac-10 season with a dominating victory. Kayla Pedersen added 16 points and 10 rebounds and Jayne Appel scored 13 for the Cardinal (11-1, 1-0), who beat the Golden Bears (6-6, 0-1) for the 34th time in the past 37 meetings. Stanford has won 36 straight games at Maples Pavilion. Layshia Clarendon led Cal with 13 points and DeNesha Stallworth added 12. The Bears made just 36 percent of their shots.

No. 5 Baylor 99, Texas State 18

WACO, Texas — Brittney Griner dunked twice and scored 26 points while 5 Baylor nearly set a record for points allowed by thrashing Texas State.

No. 7 North Carolina 101, Winston-Salem St 38

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Cetera DeGraffenreid scored 15 points to lead a balanced effort by North Carolina. Italee Lucas added 14 points for the Tar Heels (12-1). She’la White had 12, Trinity Bursey 11 and Martina Wood and Cierra Robertson-Warren scored 10 apiece. Taneisha White led Winston Salem State (2-10) with 10 points. Tar Heels guard Tierra Ruffin-Pratt injured her right shoulder about seven minutes into the game and did not return.

No. 17 Texas 114, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 53

AUSTIN, Texas — Ashleigh Fontenette had a season-high 30 points to power Texas to the win. Kathleen Nash added 17 points for the Longhorns (10-3), hitting five 3-pointers. Texas’ 114 points tied for the fourth most in school history. Jasmine Abrams scored 20 for Arkansas-Pine Bluff (1-10), which hasn’t played a home game yet this season. The Lady Lions don’t play at home until Jan. 16.

Marquette 66, No. 20 Pittsburgh 55

MILWAUKEE — Angel Robinson scored 15 of her 21 points in the second half as Marquette upset Pittsburgh in the Big East opener for both teams. Lauren Thomas-Johnson added 16 and tied her career high with four 3s as Marquette (1-4) won its fifth straight conference opener. Jania Sims led Pittsburgh (11-3) with 20 points and Sophronia Sallard added 11 for the Panthers. Taneisha Harrison, the Panthers’ scoring leader with an average of 14.5 points, went scoreless and fouled out with 31.8 seconds to play.

No. 22 Wisconsin-Green Bay 78, Cleveland State 60

CLEVELAND — Julie Wojta scored 24 points and Kayla Tetschlag had 21 to help Wisconsin-Green Bay remain unbeaten. Celeste Hoewisch added 12 points and six assists for Wisconsin-Green Bay (12-0, 1-0 Horizon League). Wojta also had seven rebounds and seven assists. Shawnita Garland had 22 points for Cleveland State (5-7, 0-1), who committed 24 turnovers. Jessica Roque scored 12 points and Kailey Klein finished with 11.

No. 23 Virginia 74, Colorado 59

BOULDER, Colo. — Monica Wright scored 24 points for Virginia, and Whitny Edwards had 14 and nine rebounds. Bianca Smith had 23 points and Brittany Spears finished with 20 for Colorado (9-3). Wright, who was in foul trouble in the first half, helped the Cavaliers (10-3) take control. She scored 11 points in the final 5:30 to hold off a strong rally by the Buffaloes. She fouled out with 1:18 remaining.

No. 24 Georgia Tech 76, Army 47

ATLANTA — Alex Montgomery scored 21 points and Deja Foster had 12 points and 14 rebounds to help Georgia Tech earn its eighth straight win. Sasha Goodblett finished with 12 points and Brigitte Ardossi added 11 for Georgia Tech (13-2). Erin Anthony led Army (6-7) with 26 points and seven rebounds.
