Unbeaten Harding tops Massillon
WARREN — Tre Brown scored 19 points and the Warren Harding High boys basketball team shot out to a 31-14 lead at halftime en route to a 73-51 win over visiting Massillon on Saturday.
Angel Gonzalez scored 16 points, Kennis White had 14 and Fred Williams 13 for the Raiders (7-0).
Jamil Dudley scored 19 points for Massillon (3-4), which was outscored in every quarter.
Canfield 48, GlenOak 47
CANTON — A 12-foot jumper bounced off the front of the rim as time expired on the Golden Eagles.
GlenOak led 43-39 heading into the final quarter but scored just four points the rest of the way.
Danny Campolito led Canfield with a game-high 17 points, including five 3s.
Jim Darnley led the Golden Eagles with 11 points and eight rebounds. David Morgan added 12 points, and Tommie Harris had 10.
Beaver Local 74, Crestview 48
COLUMBIANA — Travis Lynch scored 24 points, including three 3-point goals, while Zack Murray added 19 points with nine rebounds to pace Beaver Local (3-5).
Mow Mow Thompson chipped in with 12 points.
Adam Coppock had 12 points and Carter Hill nine to lead Crestview. Newton Falls 60, Southeast 28
NEWTON FALLS — Cody Dillon scored seven of his 16 points in the first quarter as Newton Falls ran out to a 19-2 lead entering the second quarter.
Brian Sole added 16 points for Newton Falls (7-1), while Nick Phillips had 11 for Southeast (1-5).
Girls Canfield 85, Beaver Local 58
CANFIELD — Jillian Halfhill scored 12 of her 19 points in the first half as Canfield took a 43-26 lead into halftime in an All-American Conference Red Tier game.
Sabrina Mangapara added 16 points, 11 in the second half, Kendal Malsch scored 14 and Kaitlin Kaleel had 11 for the Cardinals (4-5), which held a 40-15 edge on the boards.
For Beaver Local (2-6), Allie Bangor scored 21 points and Sam Cianni had 11.
Howland 58, Lakeview 30
CORTLAND — Sophomore Taylor Williams scored 18 points and Jessica Wilson added 11 for Howland (7-2), which sprinted out to a 31-14 halftime lead.
Jamie Sentner scored eight points for Lakeview (2-7).
Newton Falls 52, Southeast 46
NEWTON FALLS — Destiny Prusky scored 20 points and Angela Gruliano added 15 to lead Newton Falls, which opened up a 20-2 lead after one quarter and held on for the win.
Lauren Mulhollen scored 15 points for the Pirates, who outscored the Tigers 30-21 in the second half.
