Armed-robbery arrest
YOUNGSTOWN — Two 16-year-olds and one 15-year-old were arrested in an armed robbery at Avalon Gardens on Belmont Avenue at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, city police said.
One of the 16-year-olds brandished a revolver and demanded that an employee put money in a pillowcase he was holding. They got away with $190, but the money was later recovered after a police dog tracked them through yards to a house on Norwood Avenue.
The homeowner allowed police to search the house, and they found one suspect and the gun in a bedroom upstairs. Another suspect was in a closet in another bedroom, and the third suspect was found in the attic with a silver revolver and $50 in his pants pocket. More cash, $160, was seized at the house, police said. The teenagers were taken to the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center.
