The college scholarship fund was established in honor of Haeng Ung Lee, the Eternal Grand Master, a 10th degree black belt and one of the original pioneers to bring martial arts to America, who passed away in 2000.

Academy students in the local Ohio region have raised over $1,360.

Collectively, the ATA Black Belt Academy Schools have raised over $70,000 in scholarship money to distribute to students throughout the nation. That’s in addition to the $80,000 in scholarship that is given each year.

There have been more than six local college students in the immediate area that have received scholarships in the past few years.

Brielle Campos, a freshman at Youngstown State University and a member of Boardman ATA Black Belt Academy, was the most recent recipient.
