New junior varsity coach knows keys to success

In her first season as the head girl’s junior varsity coach Christine Terlesky is well aware of what it takes to win and the time necessary that a player must put in if they are to achieve that goal.

She has also served as a varsity assistant under her father, Ron Moschella.

Playing in the tough Federal League has presented a challenge for her youthful squad, but the team has gotten progressively better each time out and that pleases both daughter and father and the development of the varsity’s “feeder” team.

While the varsity team goes nine deep, for the most part, two from the junior varsity squad dress at varsity time and see action when the situation permits.

They are guard/forward Taori Moore, a sophomore who is described as an excellent all-around player and point guard, and Alex DeFabio, an excellent ball handler.

Three-point shooter Lisa Navarro, a sophomore guard, and post player Emily Gibbs, a freshman, are both counted on heavily by Terlesky.

Forwards Colleen Baker, Loren Holokia and Miah Gasparek and guards Hailey Dickey and Shavai Owens round out the reserve unit.

Dickey, a sophomore who also starred on the Spartan soccer squad and Owens, a junior, are the newest additions to the hoops program.
