Q. What do you like best about living in your town?
A. I truly appreciate the people of this town. I like that you can attend a Fourth of July celebration and let your kids run free knowing that they’ll be safe. I like the strength of the community and it’s connection to a vibrant school system.
Q. What one thing would you add to your town if money was not an issue?
A. A stronger employer base. I believe that we have very hard working people in this town and they just need to be given a shot to show the world how good they are.
Q. Describe the last community event you went to:
A. The 40 under 40 awards at DeYor performing arts centers. My nephew, Anthony Daprile, was a recipient for this year and I was very proud to share this honor with him. I was inspired by the amount of young talent we have in our community and was inspired by their energy.
Q. If there was a store or business to add to your town, which would you like it to be, and why?
A. I think there should be a Handel’s Ice Cream on every major corner. I think we should continue to expand the Youngstown Incubator so that we can create those companies that people are still dreaming about creating.
Q. If you could name a street after someone, who would it be and why?
A. My parents, Jim and Mary Lou Daprile. They were very hard working business owners who ran their business with morals, ethics and character. They were also very involved in their church and community. They embodied the strength and character that is the core of America and the American family. They did all this while raising 13 kids.
Q. Where is your favorite place in town to go for a little hideaway time or bite to eat, and why?
A. That’s a tough question because there’s so many good choices, so I’ll give you my top three. Cafe Capri is a great place to eat and hang with friends. Springfield Grille, I like the atmosphere, food and the big booths make for a private meal. Peaberry’s for a quick lunch with great food.
Q. What one place would you direct an outsider to visit to experience your town, and why?
A. Mill Creek Park. I believe this is one of the crown jewels of our area and I don’t believe that many parks like this exist in or near major metropolitan areas.
