Since being activated, the reservists have been involved in several training opportunities to prepare them for duty in a high-threat environment. They recently returned from two weeks of specialized training called Patriot Defender at Fort Wolters, Texas.

This is the 910th Security Forces Squadron’s third rotation to Kirkuk since February 2007.

Robbery suspects sought

BOARDMAN — Township police are searching for two men who robbed a woman at gunpoint after offering to shovel her driveway.

Police responded to a call at 10:42 a.m. Thursday that a 55-year-old woman was forced to the ground and had her wrists restrained as two men entered her home.

According to police, two men wearing ski masks knocked on the front door of a Ranier Trail home asking the homeowner if she wanted her driveway shoveled. After she declined, the men forcibly entered the home, brandishing a black handgun.

The men stole the victim’s car keys and cell phone and then left in her vehicle, police said.

Polish-descent survey

POLAND — The Polish Arts Club of Youngstown is seeking people of Polish descent to participate in a national survey being conducted by the Piast Institute, an agency devoted to Polish and Polish American affairs.

The institute has launched an online 49-question survey to find out more about the attitudes of Polish Americans regarding key public issues and more.

The survey is a response to the U.S. Census Bureau’s eliminating questions about people’s ancestry on the 2010 census forms. Ethnic groups are worried they might lose their fair share of federal and private dollars as institutions often rely on census data to allocate funds.

Piast representatives will address the issue at 2 p.m. Jan. 10 at the Poland Library, 311 S. Main St.
