Man arraigned on weapon, drug charges
STAFF REPORT
WARREN — A city man pleaded innocent to carrying a concealed weapon and marijuana possession after he reportedly ran a stop sign and struck a vehicle parked in the driveway of a house in the 900 block of Highland Avenue Southeast on Wednesday night.
Brian L. Crawford, 25, of 2266 Risher Road S.W., appeared Thursday in Warren Municipal Court on the charges and was released after posting a $6,000 bond.
He is scheduled to return to court at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 26.
The owner of the damaged vehicle said Crawford’s Chevrolet Trail Blazer was eastbound on Hoyt Avenue when it went through the intersection and hit his parked car about 8 p.m. The vehicle left the scene.
The Trail Blazer’s bumper and license plate was left behind, which enabled Warren police to identify the vehicle and locate it a short time later in a church parking lot on Lane Avenue Southwest at Main Avenue Southwest.
When officers checked Crawford, they found a small bag of suspected marijuana in his jacket pocket and a loaded handgun on his hip.
Police arrested Crawford and took him to the Trumbull County jail.
If convicted, Crawford faces up to 18 months in prison on the charge of carrying a concealed weapon.
