YOUNGSTOWN — It’s official: This February was the worst. Or at least, the most — for snowfall.

The most recent snowfall has made this the snowiest February in the recorded weather history of the Mahoning Valley. The weather service has snow records dating to 1934.

The record depth was 31.7 inches in 2008.

As of Saturday afternoon, the Youngstown area was at 34.5 inches, according to the National Weather Service.

The area averages 10.5 inches in February. The service measures snowfall for the area at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport in Vienna.

The stuff just won’t stop. Snow showers or freezing drizzle were forecast for overnight with snow accumulation 1 to 3 inches.

For today, a chance of snow showers or freezing drizzle is forecast in the morning, then a chance of snow showers in the afternoon.

March is coming in like a lion.
