1111Six years ago, we began a project to invest $10 million into shaping the future of “The People’s Paper.” That investment would lead us to both a new printing press and a new look. Our new design borrows from our proud heritage while at the same time allows us a more modern flair.
Our news legacy dates back more than 140 years to 1869, when the “Mahoning Vindicator” was first published. Since that time, newspapers and various media innovations have come and gone. What has not changed is our commitment as a locally owned and operated business. Sure, we are struggling like everyone else right now, but we are committed to our Valley because we were born and raised here.
It is our home.
At a time of media consolidations, bankruptcies and corporate takeovers, we are proud of many things, including our new press and our new look. But we are mostly proud that we have been able to maintain independent ownership, 574 local jobs and a work force that is committed to delivering more local news to the Valley.
We are also proud of our advertising partners who believe in the power of an independent daily local-news operation from the printed newspaper to the Internet at Vindy.com to our new “Neighbors” weekly publications.
But we could not do this without you, our loyal readers. Each week, we print and deliver approximately 11 million pages of The Vindicator to homes and businesses throughout the Valley; that’s about 572 million pages each year. We understand the enormous responsibility that goes along with this daunting task, and we hope to continue to live up to your high expectations in the generations to come.
