Men

Coaches: Jerry Slocum is 49-98 in five years at YSU and has a career mark of 629-423 in 35 years. Detroit’s Ray McCallum has a career record of 189-167 in his 13th year as a head coach, and is 24-36 in his second year at the school.

YSU starters: DeAndre Mays, 6-2 junior guard (14.3 points per game, 3.2 rebounds per game); Sirlester Martin, 6-7 senior forward (10.3, 5.3); Kelvin Bright, 6-4 senior guard (9.6, 1.9); Vytas Sulskis, 6-7 junior guard (11.5, 4.4); Dallas Blocker, 6-9 senior forward (3.8, 3.6).

Detroit starters: Chase Simon, 6-foot-6 sophomore guard (14.5 points per game, 5.2 rebounds per game); Xavier Keeling, 6-foot-7 junior forward (12.5, 4.9); Thomas Kennedy, 6-foot-7 senior forward (11.5, 4.6); Eli Holman, 6-foot-10 sophomore center (11.4, 8.6); Woody Payne, 5-foot-11 senior guard (5.7, 3.6).

Notebook: The Penguins are coming off four-straight losses, some of which in heartbreaking fashion. YSU’s last two losses have come via buzzer-beaters from its opponents.

YSU starters: Brandi Brown, 5-11 freshman forward (11.3 points per game, 10.7 rebounds per game); Macey Nortey, 5-3 sophomore (7.4, 2.8); Bojana Dimitrov, 5-7 junior guard (10.8, 2.6); Kenya Middlebrooks, 5-8 sophomore guard (8.3, 4.2); Rachel Manuel, 6-3 senior center (7, 5.3).

Detroit starters: Brigid Mulroy, 5-foot-9 senior guard (14.2 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game); Yar Shayok, 6-foot-1 sophomore forward (11.6, 9.9); Jalesa Jones, 5-foot-4 sophomore guard (9.4, 3.4); Lauren Allen, 5-foot-8 sophomore guard (7.3, 4.2); Demeisha Fambro, 5-foot-9 freshman guard (8.2, 2.8).

Series history: The Titans own a slight 13-12 advantage in the all-time record against the Penguins. YSU lost 80-44 earlier this year.

Notebook: A three-game home stand hasn’t equated to wins for the Penguins, who haven’t won a game this season and have lost 27 straight dating to last season.

Next game: YSU will close out its season on the road. A two-game stretch against Green Bay (March 4) and Milwaukee (March 6) are all that is left between the Penguins and the Horizon League tournament.
