Women of Cameroon developed World Day of Prayer service


Church Women United will observe World Day of Prayer on Friday, unless otherwise noted. This year’s theme is “Let Everything That Has Breath Praise God.” The women of Cameroon wrote the program.

This year’s service and offering grants will focus on issues effecting women and children of Cameroon, which is located in the center of Africa above the equator. Market women play a fundamental role in the Cameroonian economy helping to sustain their communities. Cameroon’s women and children are victims of human trafficking, domestic violence and sexual abuse, discrimination concerning ownership of property and victims of HIV infection.

Among observances:

UBethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Drive, Boardman, will host a program at 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Brett Rizzo delivering a message. Rich Morgan from WKBN-27 will speak on Cameroon. A light lunch at noon will be based on foods from the country will be featured.

UCanfield Presbyterian Church, 140 W. Main S., Canfield, will have a program at 11 a.m. Friday.

USt. James Catholic Church, 50 Rosemont Road, North Jackson, plans a program at 11 a.m. Friday.

UPark Vista South Retirement Community, 1216 Fifth Ave., at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
