YOUNGSTOWN — Society of St. John Chrysostom, Youngstown-Warren Chapter, will present “Contemporary Ecumenism” with a talk by Bishop George V. Murry of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown at 7 p.m. March 9 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 343 Via Mount Carmel.

The program is free and open to all.

The society is an ecumenical organization of Catholic and Orthodox clergy and laity.

Musical Passion

NILES — “Tet lestai,” produced by Cleveland Performing Arts Ministries, will be presented at 8 p.m. March 5 and 6 and 2 p.m. March 7 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 381 Robbins Ave.

The play lasts about two hours with a short intermission.

A reception will follow each performance and affords an opportunity for the audience to meet the cast and crew.

Doors open one hour before the performance.

There is no admission charge; a free-will offering will be taken.

“Tet lestai’s” dramatic stage production focuses on the story of Jesus’ trial, execution and Resurrection.

The word Tet lestai means “It is finished,” the last words of Jesus as he died on the cross.

Women’s Day

YOUNGSTOWN — Phillips Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal, 718 Albert St., will observe its annual Women’s Day service at 11 a.m. Sunday with speaker will be minister Cynthia Wright-Palmer of Elizabeth Baptist Church.

The theme is “Women of faith – Facing the Future.” Tawanna Madison and Darlene Hightower are co-chairwomen.

The Rev. Amariah McIntosh is pastor.

Spring revival

YOUNGSTOWN — Union Baptist Church, 528 Lincoln Ave., will have its annual spring revival at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.

Along with Pastor Michael H. Harrison Sr., guest pastors will be Pastor Judah Early of Mount Hebron Baptist Church in Cleveland and Pastor James Bowie of Greater Friendship Baptist Church.

Rosary cenacle

YOUNGSTOWN — The Shrine of Our Lady, Comforter of the Afflicted, 517 S. Belle Vista Ave., and Queen of the Holy Rosary Prayer Group will have a rosary cenacle at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the shrine. Refreshments will follow in the social hall.

Lenten meditation

SHARON, Pa. — St. John’s Episcopal Church, 226 W. State St., will present the second in its series of Lenten meditations and recitals on Tuesday.

The program will open at noon with carillon music followed by the meditation and recital by harpist Kirk Kupensky, minister of music at Unity Church Centre in Girard.

The event is free.

A light lunch will follow in Allen Hall.

Forming choir

YOUNGSTOWN — An organizational meeting is planned at 7 p.m. March 22 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 3434 Via Mount Carmel, for area singers who wish to form a choir to sing Schubert’s “Mass in G” and Williametta Spencer’s “At the Round Earth’s Imagined Corners” in a concert scheduled for 6 p.m. June 6.

Rehearsals will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays, starting April 5, at the church.

Prayer breakfast

YOUNGSTOWN — The Women of Purpose Ministry of Union Baptist Church, 528 Lincoln Ave., will host its annual prayer breakfast at 9 a.m. March 20 at the Holiday Inn Boardman.

The theme is “Preparing to Win in 2010” taken from Matthew 6:33 and Romans 8:37.

The speaker will be Arnita Dukes of New Hope Baptist Church in Farrell, Pa.

The cost is $15 per ticket and the deadline to buy tickets is March 12.

Prayer initiative

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. — Clergy of the Shenango Valley has scheduled a prayer initiative at 9:30 a.m. today at First Presbyterian Church, 603 W. Ridge Ave.

The group will first pray together then divide into groups to travel to various places.

NILES — Circle of Friends, a southern Gospel quartet, will present a concert at 7 p.m. Friday at Atmosphere Cafe, 815 Youngstown-Warren Road.

Concert set

NORTH LIMA — The Down East Boys will be in concert at 7 p.m. Friday at North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive.

The concert is free; a free-will offering will be taken.

A spaghetti dinner is planned prior to the concert from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for 3- to 10-year-olds.

No reservations are needed for either event.
